Adoption Process
The first step to adopting involves finding your "fur-ever" friend! Animals available for adoption are listed below. After you find an animal you would like to adopt, then submit an application! Once your application is received, our adoption coordinator will contact you regarding your chosen friend. After you are approved to adopt, Long Way Home will get you in contact with the animal's foster family to learn more about the animal and ensure there is a great match! After you have matched, all that is left is to sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and get your baby home!
We work with various transportation services to provide transport if you are unable to travel to pick up your pet.
Adoption Fees
Long Way Home generally spends an average of $500 for dogs and $400 for cats in our program for their medical and daily care costs. We might spend slightly less if the animal received vetting from the shelter they are pulled from, but expenses for most of our animals run much higher due to the health of those we generally rescue. Their adoption fee helps cover a portion of our expenses, and allows us to continue our life-saving mission!
Dogs - $300
Cats - $150
Transport fee - $250 (available for dogs only)
