Long Way Home is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization saving animals regardless of age, health, or species. Some may be healthy pets in an over-capacity shelter, some may need serious veterinary care or rehabilitation, others may be considered "unadoptable" or difficult-to-adopt due to age. We prioritize helping Texas animal shelters first, over any other cases. They are all rehabilitated and placed in loving forever homes. While we are an all breed rescue, we try to prioritize senior small breeds and medical cases.
In 2022, we expanded our mission to include more community outreach and service programs. We established permanent half priced military adoptions, free microchips, free nail trims, and low cost spay/neuter vouchers. In 2023, we hope to continue creating new and innovative ways to help our community, as well as continuing to save vulnerable shelter pets.
Our foster-based rescue runs on public donations, and 100% of donations are tax deductible and used to ensure we are able to save as many animals as possible.
(Please note: LWHA is NOT animal control. If you have found a stray pet, please contact your animal welfare services first to assist you in locating the pet's owners.)
