About Fostering
All of our rescue pets live in foster homes. Foster parents find out what the animals like or dislike, what type of family structure would serve them best, and which home environment would allow them to flourish.
Because we have this information, Long Way Home Adoptables does not employ a “first come, first served” adoption approach. We evaluate all approved adoption applications based on what would be the perfect home for each particular animal based on their own unique personalities and needs. Foster families are crucial in helping us match pets with families!
We are excited you are interested in fostering a companion animal and honored that you have selected a Long Way Home Adoptables rescue to fulfill this desire.
Our organization thrives on dedicated volunteer fosters who often have families and pets of their own, yet are willing to temporarily welcome another animal into their home on their journey to forever.
We aim to respond to all foster applications within 2 business days, and we appreciate your patience with this process!
Reminder!
While fosters are not REQUIRED to be local to College Station, Texas, it is highly recommended. In the event that emergency care is required, fosters must be within a reasonable distance from pre-approved veterinary services.
Additionally, we ask that fosters attend local events when possible, and fosters must be willing to bring their fosters to one of our pre-approved clinics for veterinary services. Currently our primary veterinarian is located in College Station, TX, and we utilize this clinic except for in extenuating circumstances.
