If you are in state and need assistance with transport, please let us know before you finalize the adoption. While it is strongly encouraged that you travel to pick up your animal, we do have a network of people who can sometimes transport within state for a smaller fee than our out of state transports.
Out of state transports are completed either via ground transport through one of our trusted transport partners such a Spring Branch Rescue Transport, or through our Flight Angels with the SWAP Transportation and Rescue.
We follow the American Heartworm Society's evidence based treatment protocol for all senior animals who test positive for heartworms with us. Once an animal is adopted, adopters should have a follow up heartworm test completed six months after their test date with our program as it can take 4-6 months after initial infection for heartworms to show up.
While we cannot provide dentals on all animals, we do provide them for animals with advanced periodontal disease prior to adoption. Dental care is an important part of caring for an animal, and adopters should be prepared to maintain dental care on any adopted animals.
